The Occupational Medicine and Business Health programs at Direct RehabMed are directed by Fredrick Kersh, D.O., who is Board Certified in both Occupational Medicine and Family Practice. Dr. Kersh has deep ties to the East Texas community residing here his entire life. As such, he understands the needs of East Texas employers and values their importance to our community. Dr. Kersh has practiced for over 19 years and offers a variety of services which reflect his vast experience. Services include:

  • After hours drug screen/BAT for additional fee (before 8am , after 5pm )

Post Offer of Employment Tests: (POET)

POETs are legally defensible and can be used to rescind an employment offer if employee can not meet the physical demands of the position. The POET can cut down work comp costs by preventing employers from hiring inappropriate workers. Additionally, these tests establish a physical baseline, and can therefore be used to assess if an injury is compensable based upon past medical history.


Pre Employment Tests:

These are generally used just for job placement within a company, but cannot be used to rescind a job offer.


Nerve Conduction Velocity Carpal Tunnel Screens:

These screens are an excellent tool in assessing if a prospective employee has carpal tunnel syndrome. If positive, the employee can never claim carpal tunnel syndrome as a work comp injury. They CANNOT, however, be used to rescind a job offer.


Back Safety / Body mechanics training classes :

These are offered free to employers and will assist them in reducing work comp costs by increasing safety among workers. They are also an effective tool for employers who need this training to comply with general liability insurance requirements. Although free, this is only available if an employer uses a full scope of our services.
